A second life. A whole new story.

You couldn't make this up. And frankly, we wouldn't dare.

Over a century ago, this beautiful oak travelled from Maikop, in what is now Russia, to Armenia's Ararat Valley. There, shaped into sturdy wine-barrel staves, it spent the better part of a hundred years at the Aygezard Wine and Brandy Factory.

The factory eventually closed. But the wood wasn't quite finished with its adventures.

We stumbled across it in a forgotten corner of a disused knitting factory, deep in Armenia's Vayots Dzor province. Not exactly where you'd expect to find the beginnings of a fashion accessory.

Then came Norayr.

Wounded while serving in Armenia's armed forces, Norayr lost the use of his legs. Undeterred, he retrained as a skilled woodworker. Working with Zinvori Tun, we joined forces with him to establish production of our distinctive curved wooden buckles.

And what better material to work with than this remarkable old oak?

Coloured by time, enriched by its natural grain and bearing the unmistakable character of decades spent holding Armenian wine, these buckles are among the most beautiful we've made.

No two are quite alike. And with just 16 pieces in this limited edition, they never will be.

A little piece of history. A lot of character. And a rather wonderful new chapter.

Good things deserve a second life.

Heritage Wood Series · Limited Edition of 16 · Crafted in Armenia · Compatible with UNSLOUCHABLE™ bags. Bag sold separately.

QUITE A JOURNEY FOR A LITTLE BUCKLE.

From nearly a century of Armenian winemaking to a forgotten factory in the mountains. Some wood has more stories to tell than others.

01 — ALMOST A CENTURY OF WINE

Aygezard, Ararat Valley. For generations, this oak served Armenia's winemakers. It certainly aged well.

02 — AN UNEXPECTED REDISCOVERY

Yeghenadzor, Vayots Dzor. We discovered the old barrel staves tucked away in a disused knitting factory. An unlikely beginning to a new chapter.
